ICE announced in a statement that Tony Pham, its former principal legal adviser, would succeed Matt Albence in heading the agency. Albence revealed in late July he would retire after having served as acting director since April 2019. The decision was met with criticism from some Asian-American advocacy groups. “Given that [Pham’s] already worked for ICE within this administration, and this administration has aggressively ramped up targeting of Southeast Asian refugee communities, we don’t feel optimistic that there will be a change in how ICE is run,” Phi Nguyen, the litigation director at Asian Americans Advancing Justice–Atlanta, told NBC Asian America....

Jeonbuk were docked nine points and fined $91,000 by the K League’s disciplinary committee in September for payments a club scout made to referees in 2013. The club, who finished second in last season’s K League Classic, were crowned champions of Asia in November after sealing a 3-2 aggregate victory over United Arab Emirates team Al Ain. India break their own Games record Sreejesh’s side has recorded India’s biggest ever win in the history of the Asian Games competition. The Indians had earlier beaten Iran by a 12-0 margin in 1974 and also beaten Bangladesh by an identical margin in the 1982 Asian Games at Delhi. The win over hosts Indonesia is also one of the biggest ever in the competition, as Pakistan had earlier beaten Bangladesh by an identical 17-0 margin in the 1978 Asian Games....

Chinese Taipei 84-61 India [Group A] Chinese Taipei won registered their third win in as many games to continue to stay atop Group X with six points and a point differential of 55. The first half with a close contest as the Indians fought hard to trail only 5 points at halftime but Chinese Taipei blew the game open in the third quarter when they outscored the Indians 31-17. Both the defense and offense of team India were on fleek throughout the whole match. Team Indonesia was on the struggling side. Laundrie is missing and has been named as a person of interest in the homicide of his fiancée Gabby Petito, 22. She was declared missing on September 11, 10 days after after not returning from a cross-country tour of national parks with Laundrie, but was found dead in a national park in Wyoming on September 19. Laundrie’s parents, who live in North Fort, Florida, initially said they last saw their son on September 14, telling authorities at the time they believed he was heading to the Carlton Reserve nearby to hike or camp....

Philadelphia Health Commissioner Thomas Farley warned that the city may see between 700 and 1,400 coronavirus deaths by the end of the year. He added that Philadelphia is experiencing its highest daily case counts since early in the pandemic. The city reported 645 new cases on Monday and 2,564 since this past Friday. Farley said Philadelphia is restricting indoor and outdoor gatherings starting November 20 to try to slow the spread of the virus....

Shortly after that, the Nets approached the Celtics about making a deal for small forward Paul Pierce, a lifelong Celtics star who seemed destined to finish out his career in Boston.
